Okay, you obviously know how to add stuff to your signature that is where you'll be doing this.

Go to this page and right click and save one of these buttons to your own computer. We prefer you choose a small one.
http://www.ravelry.com/wiki/pages/Ravelry-inspiredworks

In the 'edit signature' page add upload the button by clicking browse and finding it on your computer.

When it's added click the button to select it and then click on this link - http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3651113285_f7e5ca5f7a_o.gif- and paste or type the URL of your Rav page into the box.

Save and close.

Halp I did it wrong. :(

i followed the steps and it did not work for me. I tried to manually monkey around with the code, no dice. SIGH.

Don't use code, just click the links/icons like I said. HTML doesn't work here so it's easier to just click the icons.

Dude, I did it that way, it turned to HTML all on it's own.

When I put the image in my sig it says and when I add the URL http://www.ravelry.com/people/Ariasnow it puts it before or after [SIGPIC] which doesn't work, so I tried copypasting it between the SIGPICs and just about everything else I could thing of. I even tried to "see" your guys' sigs using Page Source. :(

Well, you must be doing something different or that wouldn't happen. :?? It's always worked before.

I'll do it for you if you want. Do you care which button?

Wait a minute... I think I know what you're doing wrong. You are going to your profile and clicking "user options" aren't you? Don't do that. Go to "User Settings" on the left side of this page right above the ad. Click on that then click on Edit Signature that is on the left side of that page. That will open up a page where it'll look just like when you're posting messages and this will all make sense. Now you'll either follow the directions I gave or if you've uploaded an image to Flickr (that's what I did) you can add it just like you do your photos. Then you select it by clicking and add the url as I previously explained.

Try it. If you still have trouble I will see what I can do.

I've never been able to get it to work for me either. I can get the rav button uploaded and add the link, but you can't click on it. If you hover over the button, it shows the url, but you can't click and go

Go to user settings in the upper left above the ad, not your profile. Click edit signature on the left then click on the Rav icon. Now click the link that looks like a world - http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3651113285_f7e5ca5f7a_o.gif - then paste your Ravelry page link in that box.

I'd be glad to help, but I'm having some technical difficulties at the moment. I've asked Sheldon about it.

A while back I built this little app that lets you choose a ravelry icon, enter a rav username and it generates the signature code that you can just copy and paste. I just dusted it off again and got it working:

Hope that helps.

I think that's what I used.

Never mind I fixed it. After you click insert picture into signature highlight the both of the sigpic tags (the words, there won't be a picture) and then click the symbol to add a link.

That link doesn't work anymore. It says it requires Ruby on Rails or something. Is there another way?

I just fixed this in case anyone is needing to link in a Rav signature:

RosesAreRed and N0obKnitter, It looks like it worked for you. N0ob, some of the time for you; I see some of your posts don't have any signature attached at all. That a puzzler to me.

I followed Jan in CA's directions (*more or less, maybe) and it seems to have worked for me.

*Note: I ran into the 500 character limit so ended up editing my signature with Microsoft Word and then manually fixing the codes.

Jan's method:
1) find icon on Ravelry page. [Right] click and save [image] to your own computer.
2) Edit your signature here and add the image from your computer.
3) Select the image code and then click the "link icon" (globe with link of a chain ~ get it?) and paste in your Ravelry link URL.

Preview or save signature.

Sheldon, That siglinker makes is much easier!

I like Jan's link to Rav's icon list. It gives a larger selection of icons, but there are more steps in the process.

So, where do we go to get similar KnittingHelp icon's? I think I'll just start a new thread for this question.

I'll need to add some of those other rav graphics to the sig linker one of these nights.
