Is there anything I can do with lace weight yarn besides knit lace on teeny tiny needles?

Oh, to specify, before someone points me to the shrug pattern and the thread asking for lacy wearables, I'm more just wondering about patterns with larger needle sizes. I'm not sure I really care what the actual knit product is. I'm just curious.

Lots of lace is knit with thin yarn on bigger needles--that's how you get the lacy effect. I'd think thin yarn on thin needles would give you very tight, tiny stitches.

Hmm...I have four scarf patterns for size "3-5" needles. I tried one on a four and it was just ugly, like it wasn't tight enough. I guess that's why I was curious. I want to use all this lovely lace yarn and don't have the patience.

Lace often looks ugly when you knit it. That's why lace is the one thing you must block in order to see how it 'really' looks.

 If it's always going to look like that while I'm knitting, forget it! Thanks for warning me.
Anyone want some lace yarn?

I'll take it!
