Here's the shawl I finished last week. The sun finally came out today, so I was able to get a good picture. Both the pattern and yarn are from blackberry-ridge.com - it's called Wings of Fantasy by Hazel Carter. I love knitting lace, but I'm not really a lace-wearing kind of girl. I plan to give it to my Mom for Christmas. I think it will be perfect for her to wear when she gets dressed up to go to the opera.

Wow! That is amazing!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and a great job blocking it. I have a shawl that I need to block--do you have any tips?

This was the first shawl I blocked, so I had to kind of wing it. I got it thoroughly wet and then pressed it between two towels to get out the extra water. Then I just slowly pinned it out until it looked like the picture on the pattern. (I used one of those foam floor puzzles that my kids have). I wasn't sure how much to stretch it. I ended up pulling it pretty tight but I was gentle about it. When I took out the pins, I thought it would bounce back, but amazingly it stayed exactly how I pinned it. Blocking made a huge difference - it was 40x23" before blocking and 58x34" after blocking.
Thanks for all the compliments, everyone.

Your shawl is a masterpiece. I love knitting shawls, too, though I've never worn one in my whole life.

To answer Nikki's question - it took about 4 weeks to complete. I am not a fast knitter at all! I have seen other people talk about knitting shawls in 3-4 days...I'm not sure how they do it. I guess they don't eat or sleep. :teehee:
