Help with my St st

Maybe someone out there can help me...I seem to have a problem, and not sure what it is caused from...let me explain a little...I am a Continental knitter (just came natural after 30+ years of crocheting), when I St st, my work seems to have these 'spaces' between the rows on the WS, (I hope that makes sense) the spaces don't last the entire row and the RS of my work, the stitches are just a little uneven, puff up just a little..I have done everything I can think of, watched how I hold my yarn, slow, fast, looser, tighter, but nothing seems to help. Any ideas as to what I need to do?

That's called 'rowing out' due to uneven tension. You may purl looser or tighter than you knit, and it may just be at the beginning or end of a row. This article may help you with some tips - http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/02/uneven-stockinette-fabric-how-to-tame.html
