View Full Version : New Hat idea?

Dear you,

this idea popped up in my head when I was in bed.

It's about a head. Made of a long long.... hm... ribbon?

Imagine a long ribbon, wrapped around your head so it looks like a hat. Exactly that was the idea I had. Maybe with some variation at the top and the possibility to make it go into a scarf....

Of course it would either be crocheted or sewed together, but I tend more to crochet, since I hate sewing

So, any ideas? Does it look good in your imagination? Should I drop it?

Why not knit a hat with a lot of YOs and then weave the ribbon through the holes?

you could crochet a mesh of sc and tripple c, like a brickwall (offset by rounds) and weave Icord (I would consider a knitting dolly for making so much).

Or do you want a long cord that is not (visibly) held?

Try big whales of stochinette stitch and reversed stochinette stitch. Maybe that will be enough spiral action?

round 1 knit
round 2 purl
round 3 purl
round 4 knit
round 5 like 1 and so on.

Or knit a band, maybe 10 stitches wide, that you sew up (and maybe shape by short rows to give it a "spin" towards the spiral?) I mean like the peel of an apple when you cut it in one, you know?
