Hi! I just graduated from college which means I have extra time on my hands :) , I use to knit a while ago (2 yrs) and I'm decent though the hardest thing I have ever knitted was a bag or maybe a hat. Anyway, I have some yarn that I began knitting socks with and find it a little frustrating to jump back into knitting by knitting socks. Any pattern suggestions for use with this yarn?

It's 100 grams of Lambs pride superwash 100% wool.

Thanks for the help! I'm eager to being knitting again!!

Congratulations on graduating and welcome to Knitting Help!

What weight is your yarn? That type comes in sport, worsted and bulky.

If it's normal sock yarn it's probably a thin fingering weight and you can do all sorts of things with it. Shawls and scarves look great with sock yarn using a larger needle that you'd knit socks with. Or even if it's heavier you can do a decent size item, but more options - hat and matching mittens, fingerless gloves or scarf for instance.

Thanks so much!

It's worsted weight. Fingerless gloves are a great idea! Maybe I can find a beginner pattern for those!

Thanks for the ideas...It's so inspiring looking at all the amazing items people knit. I'm pretty excited!

Do you want mitts knit flat? Here's a few patterns I just posted in another thread. I can find more if you like, too.

Thanks for these. I could definitely knit those.

I am kind of wanting more practice knitting in the round, I have size 2 and 6 dpn and a few circular needles. I just don't want to choose a pattern thats too difficult to start out. I want to have a wearable finished project :)

Thanks,
Ash

What you can knit with the circular needles depends on the length they are. If they are at least 24 in you can knit smaller things by using magic loop. I prefer 32 or longer myself, but modified ML works, too. How long and what size are they? Since you're yarn is worsted weight you'll have to stick to the size 6 DPN. Many of us have acquired interchangeable needle sets to accommodate our um...addiction. Here's a few 'in the round' patterns that might work for your needles and yarn.
