I even like the name of this one, I found on Ravelry, here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/boneyard-shawl. You can download it for free. I'm hoping to knit this one soon.

but what does: M1L and M1R mean?

The shawl looks like fun to knit. You can see a video of M1L and M1R on the Free Video tab (at the top of the page) under Increases. It's a great resource.

I always have to note on my pattern with those whether they are picked up front or back. That way I always get symmetrical increases.

Thanks salmonmac! I checked out the videos, but they call them by dift. names....guess I'll have to figure it out by myself, as I'm knitting. Looks easy enough.

The page may have been updated, M1L and M1R are about halfway down the page (http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/increases).
