View Full Version : German sweater pattern

I have a pattern for a German military sweater that has been translated from German. I'm having difficulty with the pattern and would like to see if anyone can "re-translate" into something more easily read.

It starts:
Row 1,3 and 5: (back) knit 2, carry the yarn in front and lift 2 off as if to purl, repeat to end.

rows 2, 4 and 6: (front) lift the thread you carried across the first of the two stitches you lifted off onto the left needle and, including this thread knit 1 in the back of the stitch then lift the thread you carried across on to the needle again and including this thread knit one normally, purl 2, repeat to end.

It is the lifting and carrying part I am having difficulty with. I think I understand the odd rows, it is the even rows that are just throwing me for a loop! If anyone can simplify this, I would be so grateful!

The name of the pattern is Militar-Pullover Pattern and can be found on the web for a picture of the pattern.

I think the 'lift 2 off as if to purl' is the same as 'slip 2 purlwise with the yarn in front'. Then on the RS, knit that strand together with the st on the needle tbl, then knit them again.

Thank you, I will try that and see what happens!
