KNITTING HELP....I am slightly confused

So my knitting pattern says that I have to have
15 sts and 20 rows then...
2x2 rib (multiple of 4 sts + 2) is also listed on the next line before the description of Row 1 and Row 2
My question is that I don't know how many to cast on to start it off... Please help :)

We can't help with actual cast on number unless we know what you're knitting. ;) Always include a pattern name and a link if at all possible when asking questions.

Basically though what it's telling you is you need a multiple of 4 plus 2. You only add the 2 once so figure out a multiple of 4 then add 2 to it.

The first part is the gauge (15 sts and 20 rows in 4") then Rows 1 and 2 is the stitch pattern for the 2x2 rib. Right after that it should give you the stitches to cast on, there may be several numbers, depending on how many sizes your pattern is written for.
