Hi! I saw a scarf that I wanted to make called a Cactus Lace pattern, but can't find the pattern. Does anyone know where to get it or how to do this stitch? I'm just looking to make a quick little fashion scarf for my niece.
Thanks!:muah:

Knit or crochet? I found a cactus lace scarf (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cactus-lace)on ravelry in broomstick lace crochet. It's in a book called Crochet Scarves: Fabulous Fashions, Various Techniques

I also found a Cactus and Lace shawlette (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cactus--lace-shawl) that's knit.

That's the scarf. Guess I'll have to pony up for the pattern. :o) Thanks!

I was thinking that this stitch would be really nice for an Infinity Scarf.

Yes, it would make a great Infinity scarf. Check your local library to see if they have or can request the book, you can use the Rav library link (http://worldcat.org/isbn/081170081X) to search. (don't be surprised if that link comes up for Montana, it may be connected to the cookies on my computer; just change the city/zip code to yours)

I found a nice pattern for the infinity scarf that I wanted to create. If anyone else is interested in this crochet pattern, here's the link:

I saw that pattern when I was looking around for broomstick lace info and patterns. I like that pattern, it would also make a nice shawl or something. What have you decided about the cactus lace pattern?

That's a lovely broomstick lace scarf and would work for all kinds of dainty things--even edgings.

I added a broomstick lace collar to a crocheted cardigan I made several years ago (from a Doris Chan pattern). She recommends using a large knitting needle to form the loops. I tried this and didn't have much luck (sometimes my fingers aren't very coordinated). You'll never believe what I ended up using instead! Yeah, a broomstick! I was able to lay the broom across the table with the handle sticking out and sit comfortably in a chair and make broomstick lace till the world looked level. Now isn't that amazing? Making broomstick lace with a broomstick! Will wonders never cease!?

Would love to see your creation! Do show and tell (please)!

I'm still working on it, but I'll post as soon as I come up with something. What I'm thinking is using the knit drop stitch idea but twisting them after the drop row. That's what I love about the cactus pattern, is the twist in the crochet. Stay tuned!

There's a twisted drop stitch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWw3QnxjtG4), which I think is similar to what you're thinking of.
