I'm sure I saw a pattern for mittens with a cabled cuff. I'm trying to find it as I think it would be perfect for my Storm Aran wool. If you know the pattern (or have one similar) please let me know!!

I googled 'cable cuff mitten' because I thought I had seen one too. I didn't find the one I was thinking of, but there was this one: http://wolfandturtle.net/Yarnpath/index.php/Yarnpath/comments/cable_cuff_mittens/ It sounds like you would just pick up stitches along the edge of the cable band.
Is this what you mean or were you looking for cables in the same orientation as the fingers?

Hi Carol, thanks for the link! That wasn't the one I was looking for but it's the closest thing yet!
The mitten I saw had a cable running upwards, not sideways and I don't think the cuff was as long.
I'm going to bookmark this link though 'cos I love a mitt with a long cuff!!

There is a pattern in stitch and bitch nation for arm warmers knit with noro yarn (my fave!). They are fingerless, but you could always just knit the flap that goes over your fingers. The super long cuffs go halfway up your arm and have a funky cabled-looking vine-type pattern.... I have not made these though, but they look cool.

Thanks Hildegard, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Actually found Stitch 'n Bitch here in Ireland so I might just find Nation as well!!

I made the S&B "Hurry Up Spring" armwarmers, and they are hot. Instead of following the pattern I put a big cable running down the second needle....I will put a pic of it on my blog in a little bit if you want to look at how it looks (and I will give you the pattern for the changes if you need it :) )

cool yarnmommy! I haven't made them because I was afraid they'd be too darn hot, plus the cabley pattern looked a little too funky for me (and I'm not good with directions that use dashes and diagonals instead of lines). Did you not keep the black one you're modeling?
