Trying my first ever pattern so I need help! This is for the ugh bootie

1) How do I "yarn forward" ? Is that the same as yarn over?

2) This is my first instructions...
With smaller needles and Wild Bill cast on 26 stitches and knit 1 row.

Well, I usually double cast on... so that is taken care of then, right?

3) Next instructions:
Row 1: k1, yf, k11, [yf, k1] twice, yf, k11, yf, k1.

what do I do with the [ ] ?

That is all for the moment... I'll be back with more

Well, normally it just means to bring the yarn forward so you can purl the next stitch, but looking ahead at teh pattern, it appears that the author of this pattern is ultimately trying to get you to work a YO because your yarn forwards are all followed by knits which will give you a YO in the end.

If your CO also knits the first row then you are correct, you are ready to go to the next row.

Do you see the "twice" after the bracketed text? That "twice" refers only to items contained within the brackets.

Also, in her stitch definitions, she says: "Yf yarn forward (increase)". So that would be a YO.

Aren't the Ugg booties the cutest?
