I want this (http://www.themusicstand.com/item--i-435504--u-715.html) purse... and I figure I can make it for cheaper than 45 bucks... I'm not sure how to go about the circles, any ideas on a similar pattern/technique?

I think this purse is just felted, without knitting it first, you know.
You would form circles with the wool and then felt it. I think I saw that on TV a few days ago...
Anyway, I bet you could also crochet it, like making granny squares with a circle in them and then join these.
As for knitting...I don't know a technique, but maybe someone else does.

Actually, I've changed my mind...(YES, my mind is completely different now!)..I DO have ideas!
Check THIS (http://www.y2knit.net/hibiscus.pdf) out
and THIS (http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/poppies.htm)
and THIS (http://bbkgonline.tripod.com/freepattern1.html)
and THIS (http://www.frugalhaus.com/homepage/scallop.htm)
and THIS (http://www.jimsyldesign.com/~dishbout/kpatterns/garterstcoaster.html)
and ESPECIALLY THIS (http://www.knittingatknoon.com/coasterspatt.html)
Any of these would work affixed TO the purse....OR, if you are a knitting GENIUS, :?? you might be able to figure out how to work them INTO the purse.
THERE! HA! I had IDEAS! :P
PS - I love the decsription of the purse...."using an ANCIENT TECHNIQUE known as "FELTING"!" OOOOOOH! AAAAAAAHHHHHH! SO MYSTEEEEERIOUS! I bet they use ROCKS and TWIGS to do that!

This reminds me of something I saw on a HGTV show, Crafters Coast to Coast (http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hcc2c). This woman made a felted hat shown here (http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_accessories_other/article/0,1789,HGTV_3226_3248959,00.html) and a felted wool flower shown here (http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/cr_accessories_jewelry/article/0,1789,HGTV_3225_3248960,00.html)
I thought her techniques were so interesting. Maybe you can get some ideas from there.
I have seen something similar where bits of colored felt were poked with an ice pick into another piece of fabric. So help me out people who have actually fulled something- Could you knit a bag, shrink it partway, bring it out, punch in colored yarn and finish felting? That's my lazy chick idea. That looks almost impossible to knit with all those circles.
