Any help is appreciated.

This is the back of a sweater getting ready to make the underarm.

Here’s the instructions:

Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each and every other row 4 times. Work even until piece measures 7 in from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows.

My problem: If I do this:

Rs: bo 6 k to end
Ws: p to end
Rs: bo 6 k to end
Ws: p to end

Then I’m lopsided.

If I:

Rs – bo 6, k to end
Ws – bo 6 p to end
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1 k to end
Ws – pWork even.
rs – bo 7
ws – bo 7
rs – bo 7
ws – bo 7
rs – bo 7
ws – bo 7

Then the bolded section makes me lopsided.

What to I do?????? ***sending out S.O.S. signals***

I'm pretty sure this should read:
Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 4 times. Work even until piece measures 7 in from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows.

This is what you should be doing:

Rs – bo 6, k to end
Ws – bo 6 p to end
Rs – dec 1, k to last 2 stitches, dec
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1, k to last 2 stitches, dec
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1, k to last 2 stitches, dec
Ws – p
Rs – dec 1, k to last 2 stitches, dec
Ws – p
Work even.
rs – bo 7, k to end
ws – bo 7, p to end
rs – bo 7, k to end
ws – bo 7, p to end
rs – bo 7, k to end
ws – bo 7

Hope this helps!!
