That sounds like so much fun!! My DH and DS are going to be on a campout that weekend. So, DH couldn't join me, but I might just see if I can get a babysitter for DD and come up!!

Are you and DH going Karen? Anyone else?

Kirochka
03-03-2006, 07:31 PM
We are! (It's our anniversary, so first we have to go have dinner somewhere where DH can get a Guinness ;) - but since we get out of work at 3:30, we'll have plenty of time to eat, make ourselves presentable looking, and arrive on time! :D )

Do come, Julie!!!! :cheering: :cheering:

Andrea

Oo OO!!! I might be able to come!!!

I asked our babysitter last night if she would be able to babysit for me that night, and there's a possiblity. I need to wait & hear from her for sure. As soon as I find out, Andrea, I'll let you know.

I'm So Excited!

Our trip to visit our daughter has been postpone because I have an eye problem and want to stay near the optomologist.

So I can up grade my status to maybe. DH noticed it on our calendar and seemed obliging. (Any excuse to look at new cars.)

I'll have to map it and then hope for the best. It's Aroura, right?

Julie
03-13-2006, 08:26 PM
Yup, Aurora -- it's in a strip mall on the outskirts of Fox Valley Mall -- i.e. you drive as if you're going to the mall, and you enter their parkinglot off of the main circular drive that goes around the mall itself.

As far as I know I'll be there :D

During those 14 hours or so of summer Wisconsin gets! :D

Actually, someday I want to visit Galena - it's supposed to be nice, and DH and I were going to go there one year around his birthday, but there was a snowstorm... is there a good LYS in Galena, maybe? That'd be extra incentive!

Hey, no snickering about bird watchers. We go up to Bellevue, IA in the dead of winter to Eagle watch.
We use to do a lot of hiking.
Now we enjoy watching the squirrels try to get into the squirrel proof feeders. :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

Hi ladeis,

KellyK thanks for the invite to join you all on Saturday, I would love to but my boss is moving our office this saturday from Elk Grove to Crystal Lake and my hubby and I said we would help. Now I'll only have a 10 -15 minute commute. Yeah. And then after we are taking my kids to chucky cheese to celebrate their birthdays which are yesterday the 15 and today.

Now if it was next saturday....

I'll watch for the next get together though.

Any reports from Trivia night???

DotMom61
03-18-2006, 10:53 AM
Well, I'm sitting here drinking my coffee waiting for a headache I don't deserve to go away. :help:

I had one alcoholic beverage last night @ Trivia Night. One. I had one additional Diet Coke. One. I had LOTS of fun! We laughed, we cried, it was very memorable.

OK. We didn't cry.

We found out how incredibly knowledgable and wordly Karen is!! Sheesh. If it wasn't for her, we'd have only gotten 1/2 of the questions right! As it ended up, we didn't win, but we did end up with only 10 fewer right answers than the winners (out of 100). So, I think we did OK!!

Chris (Andrea's husband) did an awesome job organizing everything. (And what a great guy!! He was going to have the bus take me back to St.Charles just in case I'd had too much to drink. Oh, and he thought I was 30. That wins big points on my scorecard. :roflhard:) They had lots of door prizes and raffle prizes & a 50/50 prize. I won nothing. :| But I did get to count all the money.

Oh, and btw, this was the color of Andrea's teeth and lips:

:roflhard: :roflhard:

And now, I need to finish up my coffee, hit the shower and head off to Fringe!! (My DD is still sleeping. I have a feeling she and babysitter were up a little late last night. :fingerwag: )

Ingrid

You guys have fun today and take lots of pictures! I'll be very jealous! :help:

Kirochka
03-18-2006, 11:07 AM
 I just have a brain that stores away some kinds of trivia! On the other hand, every time the question concerned math of any sort, my brain refused to engage, wouldn't even begin to think about it! :roflhard:

It was a great time! We tied for 3rd place, even though our table was two people short! It was so fun hanging out with Andrea and Julie (and I get to do it again today! :cheering: :cheering: ) and my DH and Andrea's friends (one of whom didn't appreciate our team being called the "Knitsters"! :roflhard: ) We talked about how much we wished you were there, Kelly...

DH is taking a shower, then my turn, and I'll drop him off at the shop and then head down to Fringe... I'll probably have to check out the mall, too... I'm not a huge mall fan, but still... must at least look... :D

See you soon!!! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

Although, I must say, we were hopign that Tom would show up! :( I hope you arent still sick, Tom!!

Here's some pics....maybe DMs DD can explain the last several pics....and why it took SO much of our time!! :rofling:[/i]

I already posted this in my blog, but just in case... I went to A Gifted Purl (http://www.giftedpurl.com/site/) in West Dundee for the first time on Sunday and got a very nice first impression - nice place, nice person helping me out. Anyway, their flyer says they're having a sale of 25% off all yarn on 1 and 2 April... just in case anyone's interested!

LeslieA
03-28-2006, 02:56 PM
Oh cool thanks! I don't live far from there. I went there last fall, that's where I got my knitting kit. We went there during Harvest Fest. But the only thing I didn't like was the sales girl was kinda rude. Not to me but the lady in front of me. Maybe she was just having a bad day. But now that I can knit I want to go back there.

KellyK
04-04-2006, 08:11 AM
DM, Andrea and I were just chatting over in the blogs, and we are available on May 20th.

Anyone else??

Suggestions for locations? (Do I remember someone mentioning lime vodka slushies??? )

DotMom61
04-04-2006, 08:16 AM
Why, yes, I have those, but that weekend will not be a good Lime Vodka Slushy weekend. We will have just gotten back from vacation. Which means that DH will be frantically trying to get everything done around here that he didn't get done while we were gone on vacation.

And even thought I had a houseful of guests this past weekend, nobody was drinking!!! Except me. So, all the slushies are still present. We could do them a different weekend. :figureditout:

I can't make it, I work that day until 12-12:30, so I would not get there until at least 3.... :( May is a tough month for me, my bithday, my son's birthday, our anniversary, mother's day.... and on and on. Hopefully June is better! I don't have to be in Virinia until June 5th, so I might be able to join you for one last hurrah. It'll just depend on which weeks I'll be out there before my actual start date.

Just out of curiousity, is anyone still thinking about coming to the Fleece Fair? I haven't mentioned it in awhile, and it kinda snuck up on me (it's this weekend), so I totally understand if no one can make it. But just thought I'd ask.

OH FG, I would be SOOOO happy if you could make it for one last huzzah!

(And, no, I cant come down for Fleece Faire.... :( )

Now, Karen and DM....if you are going to be pouting together at a yarn store, why not just pout wherever the REST of us are???

Sara...I hope you can make it down ONE of these days!!

OK - So we have Me and Vicki and Andrea and Leslie and (maybe) DM so far. Where should we go?? We havent invaded Wool & Co en masse yet.... I dont remember them having a cool place to sit, though.

Kirochka

I'd LOVE to pout where you guys are, but if I were where you guys are, I wouldn't need to pout... so if I'm pouting it'll be because I can't make it on that date! :(

Where is Wool and Co?

The Gifted Purl up here in West Dundee has a couch in front and a room in back. I could go back in there and see, if anyone is interested.

Or are there any places between any of us?

i don't know that there is much out there but here (http://www.knittinguniverse.com/xrx/events/brochure.php) is the link with the dates. Now that i looked at my calendar i don't know that i can go. :( the state party convention is the following weekend and i can't really take time off BOTH weeks i don't think. And i am pretty sure i can't just drive to Rosemont for a day. i will have to see if i can work that out in my head...lol.

I would like to go to Stitches, too. August is when we celebrate my DS's birthday, and as I mentioned w/ DD's party, we usually have a big shindig and use it as an excuse to get together with lots of friends and family. So, I guess I'll have to wait and see what weekend we end up doing that before I can say "yes" to Stitches. Hopefully, though, a whole bunch of us can go! That would be SO much fun!

I think we'd have to make sure we talked w/ W&C way ahead of time --- they offer lots of classes on the weekend, and I don't know if there would be room for us to cozy up & knit anywhere there. BUT, we could always just shop there for a bit, and then go eat somewhere & KIP!

You are *not* going to believe this.

I went to Kohl's this morning to pick up a few things before we head off to TX tomorrow. I walked up to the cashier, and a woman followed me into line. I turned and looked at her, and it was Leslie from Wool & Co.!! The owner!

I took a good look at her and asked -- just to make sure -- of she was who I thought she was, and I also reminded her that we met a few weeks ago at a prayer shawl gathering at church. She remembered me, and we had a nice chat. As I was leaving, I told her that several of us wanted to get together soon & would they have room to accomodate us at W&C, and she was quite happy about us wanting to come there. She said they have two tables we could use, or we could use the back room. I promised I would call before to let them know we were coming & how many.

I love it when stuff like this happens! :sunny:

What time were you all thinking for the get together on the 20th? Like early or late. Because my dd has her dance recital rehearsal that day at 5pm. So if I can be back home by then then I could come. I can't trust hubby to dress her right. Plus they are only allowing pics and video at the rehearsal. So I have to go. Oh, I hope I can go ... I hope I can go ...

Our calendar is getting progressively busy as the month wears on. We're going to Disneyworld on 5/11 and returning on the 18th. I don't know how everyone will feel about me running off for the day so soon after returning from vacation & right smack in the middle of "clean up the yard" season. Hopefully, I'll be able to sneak out for at least a little while. Maybe I'll just tell them I need to run some errands and ... nah ... I couldn't do that. I'm a horrible liar.

:roflhard: :roflhard: Sorry ... :roflhard: :roflhard: Maggie just launched into some type of aria while I was typing ... I have no idea where it came from, but it started out as the Oscar Mayer Weiner Song and ended up with ... well ... a lovely finish. Very dramatic.

Andrea,

I would love to bring Maggie, but I don't think the folks @ W&C would be nearly as excited about it, nor the people @ the restaurant we choose for lunch.

She has been playing so nicely with the things on top of her cage the last couple of days. I guess she just needed us to go away for a couple of days and let her get her rest.

I hope *all* of us can make it!! It's so fun!! I think that our gatherings have become a necessity for me ... my little dose of girl time!

Oh, and I'm headed up your way in a little bit, Andrea ... we're going to Wild Birds Unlimited to get some new bird feeders. I bet you're sleeping though, aren't you?

http://static.flickr.com/27/102181325_9066913196_o.jpg Me too.

If we weren't running around here like crazy people this week, I'd suggest getting together this weekend somewhere while the boys are camping. But now I have to chauffer Bailey to a birthday party, and then I'm singing Mass on Sunday. In between all that I need to get all the laundry done & pack because next week Monday is full, we're off to Loyola on Tuesday, Wed. will be left open for last-minute vacation prep, and Thursday morning we're off!!!

I was hoping I could pick your brain for Disney stuff, Andrea. DH is doing a pretty darn good job of researching and planning, though. We've been using the online itinerary planner on Disney.com to map out our days. I think we've got it all covered pretty much.

Anyway, I now need to go because DD has a dentist appt in 45 mins. Talk to you all later!

When he finally left he was one of the marketing managers and he had a 3 hotel territory. He's done everything from the rides to front desk. He got really well rounded there. I am so sad he decided to leave. boo hoo.

How cool, Leslie!!

I just talked w/ my FIL today. A friend of his has a daughter who works in the Animal Kingdom (or whatever it's called), and apparently, he called her to tell her we were coming, and she's arranging some suprises for us!!! :cheering: I can't wait to see what it is, but nobody's talking at the moment!!

Sounds like you guys have a great time. Wish I could join you - I'm from Illinois, too, but about 3-3 1/2 hours away. (I'm in west central IL).

You sound like a fun bunch - I'll be there in spirit, OK? :D

Well, we've had people from Massachusetts, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan come to join us. So, don't rule it out entirely!! ;-)

Me too!!! I *love* suprises!!!

And I heard from someone else about the Everest thing, too. Dear Miss Bailey is refusing to ride any rollercoasters, though. I guess we'll have to take turns going w/out her. I'm sure Bri won't mind ... he'll get to go twice.

Everest is my FAV coaster at Disney. It is soooooo cool.

Anyway, sorry I haven't been around much, my brother came in thursday night and left last night plus my son was sick all weekend since about 1pm on Sat. He feels better now though.

I might not be able to make it Saturday. My dd's dance rehearsal got changed to 5pm and they want them there at 4:30 plus my inlaws are coming too to watch. Plus I have to get her ready and all that I think I might me stretching myself too thin if I come and then have to race home and get her ready and go. But we'll see after I think about it more.

Just wanted to let you all know. :(

This Painting with Wool class (http://www.woolandcompany.net/detail.aspx?ID=3522) starts at W&C and 10am. I'm going to try to get in, if I can. The same class is also offered on June 27th.....

I also want to take the knitting with beads class (http://www.woolandcompany.net/detail.aspx?ID=3722) on june 10 and 17. Maybe some of you can sign up with me :-)

05-17-2006, 08:07 AM
Uhmmmmmmmmmmm why not?? Did they say that when you called?

And, duh, I can't do the 10am one anyway, because then I'd miss 11:00

KellyK

I got the feeling that they would rather not give us the back room if the class was going on.

Hildegard_von_Knittin
05-17-2006, 02:21 PM
oh. well, we'll just have to go sit and knit at the OTHER yarn store in town then!!! What will they think of THAT, huh??????????????

KellyK
05-17-2006, 03:56 PM
There's another yarn store?

Hildegard_von_Knittin
05-17-2006, 03:57 PM
yes

LeslieA
05-17-2006, 05:48 PM
Where?

DotMom61
05-19-2006, 09:06 AM
The "other" yarn store is The Village Yarn & it's on State St. It's nice, but doesn't have near the traffic that W&C does, nor the selection.

Also, Hilde, did you notice that the Knitting w/ Beads class is in Bartlett, not Geneva?

See you all tomorrow ... did anyone keep count as to how many are coming? I'll back up & update the list here in a minute.

DotMom61
05-19-2006, 09:14 AM
OK!!! Attendance Update:

1. Me
2. Andrea
3. Kelly
4. Hilde
5. Julie
6. MaryB
7. Leslie ??? :(

Did I get everyone???? Karen ... I can't remember why you aren't coming. :( Of course, I can't remember much of anything right now. I'm exhausted ... and my feet hurt ... and I keep trying to swipe my Disney Dining Plan card whenever I go in the kitchen ....

.... where's the maze that leads to the coffee pot?

.... it's so weird ... there's no line at the bathroom?

RUN!!! The bus is here!!!

Karen -- We'll miss you. :verysad: (I hope you're having fun, though!!)

Hilde -- Hi! :waving: (I didn't have anything to add, but I didn't want to ignore you.)
