It's a sad sad day...I felted my cloche from Knit One, Felt Too. IT'S TOO SMALL!!!! :crying: I matched the gauge, I stood over the machine, and within six minutes start to finish, the damn thing is toast. DH has been trying to "rescue" it for me, but I don't think it's gonna happen. We spent about ten minutes stretching it between the two of us and he's been watching tv, pulling on it for about half an hour.

Very sad...the only good thing is that my color work turned out well so I have learned a new skill.

awww, Im sorry!!! But at least something good has come out of it!!

Is it the right size for a child? Maybe you could give it to one.

It's not really a kid's style. I might know a couple people with preteens who might be interested. One of my instructors isn't quite 5' tall, maybe she could wear it if her head is small, too. It would be more her style.

That sucks. Bummer. I'll not complain about the little hat I just did taking three cycles to felt enough. I'm so sorry it shrank too much.

:( I am so very, very sorry for you! But, since you are so proud of your color work, won't you please show us a photo?! I have faith that you will find just the right recipient ;)

Can we see a pic of it anyway?? :(

:( I'm so sorry.

I read a tip on another website about "un"felting something. The person suggested washing it (by hand, I think) in cold water with a little conditioner, and then stretching it some. She said it might stretch by up to about 20%. It's at least worth a try.

Would love to see a pic.

This is a time I wish I had a smaller head  So sorry to hear about the shrinkage. Maybe try the conditioner thing just to see? I'd love to see a pic anyway.

I sold it!!! I took it to the LYS and was whining to Lynne, the owner. Her mother was in the shop and she asked if I sold it how much I'd want. I said I thought maybe $40 because of material and time and hats are pretty expensive. She asked to try it on. It fit her and she wrote me a check! :cheering: But now I feel guilty for taking money for it. I should have just given it to her.

It's on display in the shop. If I can find the #%$&% cord for the camera, I'll take a pic. I'm going to make another one on larger needles and hang over the rim of the washer while it's felting.

I went over and took pics of it. Neola is so happy with it, she makes me giggle. I refrain from calling it "Stupid Hat" when she's around.

Now I have to start a bigger one for me!

Its FANTASTIC! And dont feel bad about taking that money...if anyone knows what your time and talent are worth, its the mom of an LYS owner!
