Central Flordia is VERY VERY LYS deprived. There is one in Celebration...I have never been to ... sort of by Disney and there is one that just moved to Maitland called Sip and Knit ... about 30 min east of Orlando ... my first lys experience and a bad one :(. Maybe someone else in this area knows of a secret LYS in central FL for you to visit . I hope so!!

Last summer I went to 3 on the west coast that were great and there are a few on the east coast.

Black Sheep has some knitting yarn but is mostly a needlepoint store. The ladies there are very nice, and Park Ave in Winter Park is a really great place to shop and lunch.

http://www.sipandknit.com/ has moved to Maitland, I have not been to their new store

If several FL/GA or even snowbird knitters are going to be here it would be really fun to get together!!!!

Rebecca,
I'm in SW FL rather than Central FL, but if you run across a Craft Depot it might be worth it for you to go in and look around. I know the one around here has lots more of a selection than any Michael's or Joann's I've ever been in.
Have a lovely trip and smooch your sweet hubby LOTS.
My DH would prefer sleeping on a bed of nails for the whole vacation rather than set foot in a LYS. :rofling:

Oh I heard someone else was SWFL so am I, Naples.
Rebecca we will be in kissimee in January, that is about 4 to 5 hours north of us, my roommate is a judge there for the national pie championships. I would love ot meet other knitters. Depending on health I would love to host a get together day here in Naples.

That would be wonderful to meet other knitters from here! I don't know if I would be able to this time since we have only a few short days bc Lonnie is soooo busy he was only able to get a few days off @ this time of year and we are spending some of the time in DeLand with my aunt that recently had a stroke.
We really should plan something for the future! Those of us in the southeast could meet somewhere & have a 'knitting retreat' of some sort :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: !
I just found the ones in Jax, too, Cheryl...thanks!
That's too funny...how does one become the judge @ a pie eating contest :roflhard: :rofling: ?!
Thanks for all of your LYS locations!! I've also looked @ a couple of the links online...I am sure that I will be able to stop at a few and find some goodies...after all...this is my Christmas gift from my sweetness :inlove: !

Rebecca I live with the Pie Fanatic of all time. i dont care for them and dont eat them but my roommate has to have a slice each evening or else. he has such a sweet tooth and everyone brings a pie to dinner, has one at their house etc for him. One year we watched a pie special on food network and for a joke i said you should be a pie judge and I wrote them, and they answered. They sent him applications and called to speak with him on the phone and he went for 3 days to judge and they asked him to participate every year. Last year I had rotovirus and was soooo sick, one of our friends is a doc in orlando and he made a house call for me to the hotel. I was in bed the whole time and he could have cared less he was in pie heaven.
