Changing from circular to dpn when knitting

Hello,

I'm a brand new knitter, and after working on my first scarf, I felt brave enough to tackle a hat using circular needles. Everything went along swimmingly until it came time to change over to double pointed needles to finish the top of the hat. I was clueless on how to switch. Any guidance (videos!!!) would be appreciated.

I was doing a pattern from Blue Sky Alpaca with their super bulky yarn on US 15 needles.

The easiest way to switch, for me anyway, is to just slip the stitches onto the dpns in turn. Slip as if to purl, so you don't twist the stitches.
