Well actually it's a store that has neat kitchen-y gadgets and stuff toward the front, and a yarn room in the back. HUGE skylight so it had lots of natural light in it...and couches and books....and yarn. Oh the yarn.

It was divine! The Debbie Bliss...the Rowan...the Manos...the alpaca and angora, cottons and cashmere, silks and mohairs....the Noro....the Schaeffer....and Lorna's Laces...so many others I can't recall, but I think I fondled all of them. I bought a skein of Cascade 220 and Lamb's Pride that almost perfectly matched the Noro I bought from Brendajos, that will go for booga bags. And a skein of Lorna's Laces superwash sport in Rainbow...probably will become baby booties, and the Shepherd Bulky in Tahoe that I used for my mom's dog's sweater...I don't think I've ever even bought my OWN kids a sweater that cost as much as that yarn...but there's still 1/2 a skein left, I think I'll be able to make another or a hat or something. Oh, and some Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino for a baby bolero for my littlest one.

I so can't wait to get back! It's on the way to my folks place, so now I have more incentive to go visit them...not that I don't adore my parents. ;) It's about 40 miles away, so definitely not an undoable trip in a day. And I'm so proud of my kids too! I can imagine the shop owner's panic when someone walks in with four kids in tow. I gave them dire warnings about not touching things, but fortunately the store also had a toy section and some "demos" so they played quietly with those in the corner while I was feeling up all the yarn. ;)

It's called the At Home Store, in Fairfield, Iowa. I've searched, but I don't think they have a website.

Crazy Girl Yarn Shop would probably be closer for you, they do have a website...

www.crazygirlyarnshop.com

They're in Muscatine. I've never been there, but it's on my to-do list.

Or the Yarn Shoppe in Davenport. Again, haven't been...will some day.
