I'm so proud, I've finished the fish afghan, it's done. I've posted a ton of pics on my blog here (http://schrodinger212.blogspot.com/2006/03/here-it-is.html), but I'm so happy and proud I wanted to share a picture here with you guys.

YAAYYYYYYYYY!!!! :happydance:

It looks *awesome*! I am so impressed with you. I want to do one of these one day but don't know if I have the patience to do all the seaming. Fabulous job!

I love it!!!  (I bet my cat would like it too :rofling: !!!) Good Job!

Do u happen to have the pattern for the fish still? I always wanted to make one, but never could find the pattern.

Now that is some seaming dedication! I think I'd have a pile of fish that never got made into an afghan! :roflhard:

It's gorgeous!

I posted this in your blog, but thought I'd mention it here, too. If you make just one more fish to go with the stray and stuff it with catnip you'd have an awesome cat toy!

Oooh, beautiful job! You have great patience to sew all those together.

Thanks guys, to be honest I hated the seaming (no surprise hearing these words from a knitter), and the only way I could do it is if I told myself "no knitting or spinning until this is done". It worked, I'm still shocked that I listened to myself.

Lizzy, I'm pretty sure that I cannot give out the pattern thanks to copyright (please someone correct me if I'm wrong), but you can see more about that in this discussion (http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7818&highlight=).

Thanks again guys, I can never make this again, but so pleased that I did this and I love the FO.

Beautiful job!! I'm in the makings of one of those, but it will be multicolored.

I love how you only used two colors.

Very very VERY nice!! Such a FUN design!

I love it with just two colors! You're good!

(I'm so glad I saved that pattern as a Word document before it disappeared online.)

I am so totally impressed. Knitting with chenille of all things, with incredibly even stitches, and then sewing it all together!?
You must feel like this is the masterpiece of your life!

Kewl !!!

WOW -- I'm so impressed. What amazing dedication you have. I would have probably knit 100 fish and just left them as fish. :)

03-26-2006, 08:42 PM
Wow that looks fantastic!!!

Also, I LOVE your handle/avatar combo. All you need is a box and some radioactive waste!

It's beautiful! And, I agree with what you said on your blog -- the two colors really show off the design well.

How long did it take?

That looks great!

Thanks again everyone, you all make me blush!

Debbie - Well done on finding the pattern. I think I'll put that link on my blog for reference for others.

HamaLee - Glad you like/get the combo.

Melissa - I'm not sure I want to think how long it took (I wouldn't be able to work out the hours) but I started it January 22nd. I also had several other projects that I did along-side the fish, as well as the spinning. So 2 months, just over, but more like 3-4 weeks when you discount the other FO's I guess.

The pattern was a little way down in the link you gave us :) Your afgahn is so pretty! I think I will make one for my beach house ..... so in 100milliongazillion years when I have a beach house ... the afgahn will be ALMOST done. Again, BEAUTIFUL!!!!

03-27-2006, 12:31 PM
Great job - what dedication! The colors are wonderful too!

That looks *so* great! I haven't made any more fish for mine in ages. I'm still using the "original" pattern that makes the puffy fish! I'm doing mine in 3 solids and a vari, and I'm so glad you posted the pic so that I could see how nice a "planned" one would look. All I had seen so far were scrappy's.

WOW! :inlove:

You are giving me the confidence in finsihing mine. I think I have made about ummmmm 30 fish so far. Mine aren't going to be very big.... about the size of a baby blanket. I am making them for our family cats for Christmas.

I got a quesion.

When you seamed them together, did you use the tails to seam them or did you use another piece of yarn and work your way across?

I didn't know how I should do it lol.

That is really cool. Great job.
