View Full Version : Look! I knitted an evening bag!

I've just finished this evening bag as a gift for my friend's brithday. :D
I didn't have a pattern so I just made it up as I went along but I think it's turned out OK.
What do you think?
(BTW - I've stuffed it with red tissue paper to give it shape in case you're wondering what the red is inside the bag!)
I knitted it using Sirdar Vegas wool - the photos don't really show but it is red and black thin yarn with feathers and sparkly red bits attached! My brother described it as "very camp" - not sure why! ;)

That is FAB! And camp is good! ;)
Where do you find handles like that, can you get them online?
Great job! xx :XX:

I bought the handles in John Lewis but I did search for some online too. If you google for "handbag handles" you should get loads.
I'm in the UK and I found a site called U Handbag http://www.u-handbag.com/ which has loads of fab stuff for making handbags (out of fabric) and they had a nice selection of handles. If you're in the US there are loads of sites.
Getting the handles centred on the bag took two attempts :( And unpicking the first attempt was no fun!

Thanks, Sue! I'm a Brit too - and off to John Lewis in Reading this weekend to have a look! Cheers for the tip :)

Toast King - Reading is where I got mine! They had a few different types but not a massive selection - haven't tried their website though - they might have some on their - think I'll check it out when I've got a minute.
