View Full Version : I'm not much on birthdays...

04-06-2006, 08:53 AM
but today is mine and my dh barely mumbled a happy birthday to me before leaving for work. :(

my dd said she was the mail lady and brought me a package--it was her teddy bear.

Thank you Danielle...I don't know what's gotten into me...usually birthdays mean nothing to me...but this morning... I was kind of hurt...

Your post makes me feel better (and so did the very used teddy bear!)

Don't be too upset yet, he might have something planned for later. :)

Anyway, Happy b'day! :balloons:

If all else fails, I say you should go online and order yourself some knitting goodies for your b'day. ;)

And if by chance he had forgotten and muttered so out of shame, you might suggest that a trip to the LYS will make you forget he'd forgotten!

Happy birthday! :present:

Love that little chorus of smileys!!

dh does have a small gift he said (told me this earlier in the week b/c I asked him not to buy anthing since he took me to the LYS and spent $100.00 last week) and my dad just called and said they plan to see me later this evening after mom is off work...we'll seemmlaye they'll surprise me.

I guess it was just akward...we were laying in bed before he got up and he didn't say anything, then he got up to brush his teeth and get dressed...still didn't say anything...finally, as he went to leave he mouthed the words happy birthday...it was just weird.

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! I'm off to starbucks to treat myself to a birthday decaf! :)

Is this one of those birthdays that ends on 0 or 5? Those always seem to be the "bigger" ones!

Well a happy happy happy birthday to you, here have some http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/gardenmommy/cake.gif

Would you prefer http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/gardenmommy/sheep.gif or just some http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/gardenmommy/yarn.gif for your birthday?

If this isn't normal for him, possibly he had something else on his mind and he did say he has a gift so that's good. I hope you have a great day!

Happy Birthday to you!!

Thanks again guys...

gardenmommy--it's a birthday that ends in a 7--maybe I'm realizing how close I am to the next 0?!?!?! :)

I did talk to him again a little while ago and he is having allergy problems...that kind of makes thing make more sense....my husband is an allergy mess....so maybe he wasn't feeling well??!?!?!!?

The day has been good though--went to Starbucks (which I hated until 3 days ago when I had a coffee w/ the longest name on earth...I've been back every day since) w/ dd--she had chocolate milk. Then we went to Super Target (a long-time tutoring student gave me a $50.00 gift certificate!!!) and bought a couple of shirts and some things for dd's easter basket. After that my best friend took dd and I to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch and then to the local chocolatier (sp?) for some suisse chocolate!!! YUMMY!!!

DD is taking a nap now so I'm off to work on grandma's dreaded shawl...

Wow, you've had a fantastic day! :happydance: :happydance:

I hope it keeps getting better. And I just know that when you're done, the shawl will be gorgeous!

Happy Birthday! And how sweet to get the teddy bear! That is the best gift you have to give back ever!

04-06-2006, 03:44 PM
it is a nice gift...a nicer gift would be if she'd agree to take a nap for longer than 10 minutes so I can get some :XX: done!!! LOL!

The teddy bear is one that's she's had since she was 6 months old--a man at church gave it to her--he works for the American Red Cross and there was a line of beanie baby bears put out named after nuts whose proceeds benefited the ARC--he gave her one (16 inches tall maybe) named cashew. She has loved that bear ever since and she's now 3 and a half! It's pretty rare for her to offer up her favorite toy!

Happy happy birthday Cristy!!! Sorry you were upset. Sounds like the DH wasn't feeling himself, though. I can understand that. Allegies are STUPID!
Hope your day continues to be a series of good things. samm
