Wow, they have the perfect summer hat! I can't believe it. I've been trying to decide for sure what to do about a summer hat! Woo-hoo, glad I didn't order yarn yet. I am going to order the yarn for this tonight!!!

Nautie is so cute it almost made me cry (okay, so I've been a little off lately  ). I decided I must make convertable, so now I have to find some yarn for it.

hmmmm...dissapointing...the only thing for a guy is for a Nautica model? *sigh* not even much i can pull good stitch patterns from. guess I have to wait another 3 months for a new knitty. :(

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! I am really mad!!!!!

I *love* the sweater on the front page-- Mesilla (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATTmesilla.html). I was excited to look at the pattern and see it goes up to 3x... and then REALLY pissed to notice that that 3x bust measurement is 44 inches  Since when is 44 inches a THREE X????????????? that's completely asanine!!!!

I might boycott this issue completely.

yeah I'm a little disappointed in this issue as well. I pretty much only like Hedera and Nautie. Most of the rest is too over the top for me.

aylaanne
04-09-2006, 10:05 PM
Well, I have to say that I'm less than impressed. As this is my first issue of knitty I've read close to the release date (I didn't discover knitty until I'd been knitting for two weeks, sometime in February), I enjoyed some of the articles, but many of them are over this beginner's head (perhaps when I get around to making sweaters or something?). The patterns, also, didn't strike a chord with me, although there are knitty patterns from old issues that I like.

But, it's still knitty.

I like T Twist, because of the shaping. But I hate the color they chose for the model. If it was a nice spring color, it would look divine!
http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATTttwist.html

Once again, as usual....Knitty has used the most bizarre titles for the designs. Where do they come up with this stuff?

I actually like Anatolia, although I might choose some brighter colors. It looks like a fun thing to knit. I like Nautie too. So adorable!

Hmm... yeah, it's kind of... meh... Nothing i'm DYING to knit.

I agree with you Hildie - that 3X thing is a complete joke. Once you pointed it out i looked at some of the other sweaters from the SAME issue in 3X and they go up to 54"; T-twist is another exception. Weird that they would allow such discrepancies in sizing...

I LOVE Nautie.... Love it. I might have to make that for my friend's baby. (Said friend is a marine biologist and would love it).

I also really like Tendrils... i love beaded work. And i also really like Exchequered - very cool.

Reid and Double Scoop are cute - but with no kids, it's kind of moot.

I don't get the Nagano sakura or convertible.. :??

But my favorite thing is the picture for Hedera (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATThedera.html). So Japanese and cool-looking. And those plants in the water! Beautiful photo. I'll never make the sock, but i love the packaging for that pattern!

-hh

Not impressed at all.

:verysad:

Not sure why I'm whining, though, since there are still a zillion patterns out there that I still want to knit, and many of them are in the Knitty archives--it's not as though I NEED more to choose from. ;)

Yeah, I'm kind of glad there's nothing I really like. I have so many other things I want to do anyway; it's good not to add to the list!

Oh no! I mentioned somewhere that I was checking out the Knitty site in disguise, and ayaalane gave me this which I used for an avatar.

I used it until the new Knitty came out. Just silly stuff!

On the sizing discrepancies: I was nosing around their submissions guidelines section, and beginning with the fall 2006 issue they are requiring the use of "consistant CYC sizing" as listed here (http://www.yarnstandards.com/womansize.html). So hopefully that will make things better. Because the real-life difference between an XS and a 3X is certainly more than 12 inches!

I like front cover one too but could you use KP's Crayon for it? I have never seen the cotton it calls for... I did go to their website and found a shop about an hour from me... thinking maybe one Sat. dh would take me that way we have never been to Mt. Vernon...

I always have to watch how arms are cut in store bought sweaters the size I am they are to tight in the arms.. I guess thats one good thing about knitting a sweater I can just make that bigger...

I love this issue! History (check out the link to the Victoria and Albert Museum exhibition), repairs, silk facts, and that great picture of Amy Singer with the needles in her hair!

The needles as hair adornment and meditation aids are under both "Scoop" and "Features: Knittyspin".

I finally got to see this issue last night! I thought it was so-so. I didn't see anything that jumped out at me (no kids to knit for). The pedicure socks were cute...but that was about it.

I have a soft spot for Mesilla - I went to college in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and spent many a weekend afternoon wandering the plaza in Mesilla (where the photo for the pattern was taken). I'm not usually one for embroidery or other embellishments, but I want to make it just for the name and history!

I really liked the idea of Convertible and I liked the lace pattern. BUT would I ever wear something like that? Or do I know someone that would? :??

Answer: Probably not.
