in the pattern it says (K, P, K)all in next st. i don't see how that's possible. would like to know how to do that. thanks

Knit into the stitch as normal, but don't slide it off. Bring the yarn to the front between the needles and purl into the same stitch again, don't slide it off. Bring the yarn back between the needles and knit into the the same stitch and now slide it off. Three stitches where there was one.

Right Side (the part that looks 'right' not 'as opposed to left')

RS usually means "right side", or the side that faces out.
