You tricked me too!!!!! I was like "oh cool! ... oh., wait, that's my job!"

Last May, the challenge was to knit a flower, so I didn't think I could do that again. SOOOOO, in honor of TWO fabulous events in May, you have TWO challenges this month.

May 1st is the Pagan holiday (Sabbat) of Beltane, celebrating the Sun and Fertility (have you seen a maypole? what do YOU think it looks like???) No, I don't want you to knit a willie warmer, I want you to knit something in SUN colors... red, orange, yellow, pink, lavender, etc. Conversely, knit a sun, or something reminiscent of a sun. It can be ANYTHING (even a willie warmer, or other "fertile" icon), but use sunny colors :-)

Second challenge. Where I was an undergraduate, Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, May 1st was a "special" holiday. Unrelated to May Day, Beltane, Labor Day, etc, May 1st has been celebrated as NAKED DAY for decades. Some professors didn't allow nudity in the classes, but some didn't care... so it was lots of naked men and topless women running around until 11:59 when the public saftey people started preparing to write indecent exposure tickets  Your second challenge??? Knit Knaked!! (no, you don't need to send us a picture, we'll believe you).

Happy (naked) Knitting!!!

That is insane Hilde! If I were a professor I would make that a coast day. Way too much distraction. Whew.

By the way. There is a third very important holiday in May. My Birthday. So you know.

 :roflhard:
I will have to see what I can do with this

Well, *my* birthday is in May too!!! :balloon: ... but I didn't want people to feel like they had to knit just for me*

*even though they can and should!

Ok...#2 - done. Didn't need a KAL (or any prompting at all for that matter), but nice to cross it off the To Do list any way.

And for #1, I'm going to finish up this cardi for my 4 year old THIS month. It's only right - it's been on the needles and neglected for too long.

Beeutiful :inlove: scarf. Love the pattern and the color.

Another May birthday--the 23rd! I'm blonde and a senior citizen so I get both blonde moments and senior moments. And I use them both! I thought I was going to be 58 this month, then realized that couldn't be right because I'm three years younger than DH not two! I guess I'll assign this one to a senior moment. Feels good to be younger than I thought :happydance:

Like I said - I don't need any prompting.

I live in a very rural area where the homes are far apart...it's a struggle to bother being "decent" most days

Well I just keep moving the lilac and rose cardigan from one room to another in it's chic little grocery bag tote.

I did however find a Knitting Clinic at this shop (http://www.craftvt.com/) in VT where I'm traveling for work on Tuesday - I'll be there with this May project in hand (I think I dropped some eyelets from my raglan and I'm pretty sure I've screwed up the sleeve increase - doh!)

Oy! Down but not out Hilde! Thanks for checking in with us ;)

Wow, a lot of you are a Taurus! My husband is too. I'm a Capricorn, and Taurus is supposed to be really compatible with Capricorn. We get along VERY well, in fact....better than any other relationship I've ever had. And he is the first Taurus I've ever dated.

I don't really believe in astrology, but it is interesting, isnt' it?

Hildegard_von_Knittin
05-19-2006, 01:12 PM
wierd... I'm a taurus and DH is a capricorn! We're the Yin to your Yang!!!!

Shandeh
05-19-2006, 03:07 PM
Way cool! I guess I know who I should be having a summer BBQ with. You and I are supposed to be compatible, and our hubbies are too! Now if it really DID happen, then we would just have to contact our local astrologer. :D

I'm back after a very busy last 2 weeks

I'm almost done with my sunny project. Just need to do the worst part - sewing it. And the challenging part - knitting naked.

 I just relaized that I'm done with the knitting... Does sewing naked count, Miss Hildegard? ;)

KNITTED SUN
:sunny:

I wish I'd found this sooner. This is the perfect project to make for our "Sun Worshipping" May Knit-along.

I dropped the ball this month, never getting started on anything, but maybe I could handle making this one.

There's no picture, but it sounds like a sun toy.

EVERYTHING naked counts!!!! (everything knitting and sewing i mean!)

Craft room is ready!!!

Shandeh
05-23-2006, 11:00 PM
Does sleeping nekkid count? I do that every night, and every afternoon if I take a nap. ;)

I knit late at night, but usually put on undies and a t-shirt for that. I can't stand the thought of dropping something in a "place of no return". :help:

So....this craft room. Is there an extra rocking chair in there? Or a sofa? Good lighting? DVD player and TV? Wow...I'm so DEMANDING!
