Aparently since the hour in my invitation is 6pm... I have to get something related to that time of the day...

Something having to do with dinnertime or cocktail hour if they're into that?

Well for me that would mean a CSI DVD set... 6 pm is when CSI starts! :roflhard: :roflhard:

I agree with Ingrid. Maybe get those little wine glass charms if they're into drinking wine. And maybe do a felted wine bag??

Are you thinking of knitting something or just looking for ideas?

Think about things that normally happen at 6pm...dinner, cocktails, dishes..

Dinner might be placemats, napkins and napkin rings...

Cocktails could be the wine cozy and glass charms or wine glasses...

Dishes ... dishtowels, hotpads, cooking utensils...

SIL = Sister in law (in Swedish it's "svägerska". Does that help?)

Bridal shower = some kind of party for the bride before the wedding. Not common here in Scandinavia. We might have a "stag night" where you take the bride out and do crazy things in town (record a song, go bowling, drinking, get the bride-to-be all dressed up to something embarrassing...) but a bridal shower is more civil. You bring gifts, eat and talk.

North Americans, am I right or was the bridal shower I went to a "false" shower? :D

Some also have a 'bachelorette party' which is the night of male strippers and debauchery. ;) The shower is a gift-giving thing.

I would also like to say that showers were traditionally a female only party with lots of silly games, giggling, gifts and good friends. In the last few years it's become more common for the groom and other males to join as well.

I am looking mainly for ideas to buy... my mom knitted some shawls for my two SIL's and my MIL, they seemed excited about it... a year later, she asked me "How do I use it?"... I was kinda upset, since for Christmas I spent over 24 hours in a row knitting scarves for them...

I might go for the glass charms... or placemats(from the store) Thank you!!

I say bah humbug. What is wrong with a little gender separate time? Come on! We get to listen to them snore and watch them scratch their butts for the rest of our lives! :roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard:

:roflhard: :roflhard: I do agree though! Showers are more fun IMO when they are just the girls.

I've never understood the need to break up the divisions of gender separate groups. When I was young I was in Camp Fire Girls which of course now has boys so it's Camp Fire or was..don't know if it's still around. I don't see anything wrong with each having their own.

What about a couple of cook books with your favorite recipes marked. My SIL got one for her shower and loves it! She say it is nice to know which recipes are really good for the nights when they are not feeling adventurous.
