Has anybody used either of these and if so, what did you think of them? Are they soft?

I have some of the swish at home and it's really soft for being $3something a skein. not scratchy at all.
I haven't knit anything with it yet so that's all i have for you...

I made a baby blanket out of Shine and it's super soft. I loved working with it and would definitely recommend using it for baby items. I haven't tried the other yarn you mentioned, so I can't help you compare.

New to this board but had to respond to this post because I just got my order of Swish in the mail last night. This is my first experience with it so I don't know about longevity, but I knitted up a swatch last night and I love it. It's incredibly nice to knit with. I threw the swatch in the washer and dryer and it's so soft. I'm definitely going to try making something with it.
I really like the Shine too but it tends to split when you knit it up. For the price though, I'd say you can't go wrong with either yarn.
I'd be interested to hear from others who've used both more extensively how they hold up longer term.

I've used them both, and they are both very soft. The Shine is cotton (well, a cotton-blend) and it is softer than the Swish. The Swish is nice though. I probably wouldn't use the Swish for something for a young baby, but I just made a sweater for my 4yo ds with it, and I could wear it next to my skin, no problem.

I finally started playing around with the skein of Swish that I ordered for testing/abusing right after KP got it. It's holding up very well to the practicing to knit combination style/ripping out/trying it on Sally torture that has happened in the last 2 nights! I find that impressive because I've knit super tightly (I was twisting sts) and frogged this thing several times and there's no stretching or mishaping going on...it's not yet been washed, but thus far it's holding up very well, I'm happy with it.
Oh yes, it's pretty soft, too....when you look at the price, it's very soft.

Thanks for the info! I went ahead and ordered 2 balls of Shine worsted and 2 balls of Swish. I also had to try out 2 balls of Wool of the Andes and 2 balls of the Suri Dream hand-dyed in Cascades.
Today I was flipping through SnB and came across the To Dye For pattern and was thinking the Suri Dream would be great for it. If I really like the yarn when it gets here, I'll most likely order more so I can make it.
