View Full Version : Talk to me about the "Einstein Coat".

I'm going to take a peek at Sally Melville's "Einstein Coat" pattern, but I wanted to know what others that have knit this coat have to say about it. Is it difficult to knit? How long does it take (I like quicker gratification projects! ) Any preferred yarns out there, and maybe yarns that should definitely not be used? Any and all advice is welcome. If I did it, this would be my very first garment...probably the biggest project I will have knitted.

I haven't knit this (yet) but there is a KAL thread for it here (http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9051) if you are interested.

This was a really popular project among those on the ample-knitters list. Since most of the women subscribing to the list are plus size, I would imagine there are lots of tips for resizing, customizing.

I've always wanted to knit this but I never seem to be able to finish anything more than a pair of socks for myself. The sweater and the shrug are in the UFO pile. Maybe someday...
