In the last 10 years, sexual abuse of children online has increased 1,500%. Fifteen hundred percent.... Please light a candle of support.

This site is organized by a financial institution participating in a coalition organized by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. This coalition includes about 87% of all financial service institutions who are working to ensure that their products (e.g., credit cards, merchant accounts, etc.) are not being used to purchase/sell child pornography. The hope is that with a million participants, the remaining financial institutions will feel pressured to participate as well, with the goal of eradicating commercial child pornography by 2008. Participating companies include organizations such as Visa, Master-Card, Bank of America, Pay-Pal, and the organizer of this candle campaign: Standard Charter Bank.

The innocent victims of Internet child abuse cannot speak for themselves.

But you can.

With your help, we can eradicate this evil trade.

We do not need your money.

We need you to light a candle of support http://www.lightamillioncandles.com.

We're aiming to light at least One Million Candles by December 31, 2006.

This petition will be used to encourage governments, politicians, financial institutions, payment organisations, Internet service providers, technology companies and law enforcement agencies to eradicate the commercial viability of online child abuse.

They have the power to work together. You have the power to get them to take action.

Please light your candle at lightamillioncandles.com <http://www.lightamillioncandles.com> or send an email of support to light@lightamillioncandles.com.

Together, we can destroy the commercial viability of Internet child abuse sites that are destroying the lives of innocent children.

Done. In my law practice I serve as guardian ad litem for many abused children, including some victims of online abuse. The increase over the last 24 years that I've been practicing is really scary. As the grandmother of 4 girls I am especially mindful of their vulnerabilities, although this abuse is not limited to girls. Thanks for this Post. I've forwarded it to all in my address book and encourage all KH members to do the same.
