I really like the look of the sampler on the basic techniques page. It allows one to learn all sorts of different kinds of increases and decreases.

http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/increase.php

My problem is that I'm awaiting my denise set and only have a set of flat needles now. I can't yet look at that sampler and figure out how to do it.

I don't know how many stitches to CO, then what stitches follows before she does the YO, etc.

I basically know at this point how to CO, BO, K & P . I've sucessfully completed a washcloth and want to try my hand at practicing these skills on something!!!

Can anyone help me?
THanks.

Well, that was probably done flat either with straight needles or using circs flat. It isn't really a pattern though. It's just to show you what the increases and decreases will look like. That is good idea though. Maybe someone else will know of a sampler pattern like that to try.
