Welcome to the forum! You can order yarn online which is very helpful, too!

Welcome! My dad just retired from the USAF last summer, but I was an Army, then Air Force brat before that. How is Mountain Home? I hear it's nice.

I like superwash sock yarn that can be magic looped on 3,40" addi's

Welcome! I'm new here too. And even newer to knitting than you are.
I'm an Air Force brat too, by the way.

:waving: Hi Darcy, welcome to KH. This is the place to be with other knitters and only the best teaching site on the web, you'll love it here. Aren't socks the best?

Welcme Darcy! the more you hang around this place the more you become addicted to knitting so I've no doubt you'll get those socks finished!
and about the SNB...do what I did...start your own! My SNB started a year ago in December and we have 40 members now! (they aren't all active but they participate in my yahoo group and about 12-15 show up regularly!)

We are moving soon into new housing here on base it is 1,650 square feet maybe I will try to start a SNB after we get settled in since my hubby is deploying in january it would be nice.Right now we live in 900 square feet with Daughters 15/2/5 months so it is cramped.I bought crazy toes and heels waiting for it to show up my B-Day is next week so I asked for knitting things as presents:) Thankyou for being so welcoming ((((everyone))))

You could try to set up a group on base. I don't remember MH being that far from Boise; isn't it only about 45 miles?

yes it is 45 miles from Mountain Home then 12 more miles to base so 57 miles one way for me to get to a yarn shop.lol

Just found out we are moving to Edwards AFB in CA Does anyone live near there lancaster or rosamond?

Welcome Darcy! My dh is retired Navy so I sure know the military life. I just looked up your base website and here is the phone number for the arts and crafts center : Arts and Craft Center, 828-6680. I bet you can find a knitting group there! Good luck to you and when you get to Edwards, look up your base directory and you will almost assuredly find something similar or some kind of activity center and meet knitters that way. Here is the website and there is a link to most phone numbers on the base if you don't already have one!
Good luck to you and enjoy your knitting!
