Hey, everyone--just thought I'd brag and share my boys' Halloween costumes! Stole the sweater pattern from http://www.magknits.com/Jan06/patterns/nbat.htm (with a few alterations), but the hats are my own.

Actually, it didn't take that long. The hats were just a few hours each, but the sweaters were a bit longer. I did the front of the 2nd one in one long, long day, but really I worked on them off and on for about 2 mos.

Sure!

2 skeins bulky yarn (I used Patons Allure)
#9 dpns (or to gauge)

Gauge: 13-14 st=4"

Makes an 18" circumference hat, big enough for my almost-4-year olds with big heads (heads measure 20-21")

CO 60 st, join, and knit in round until hat measures 4.5"

Decrease as follows:
*K8, K2tog* repeat between *s around 1 row (54 st)
K 3 rows
*K7, K2tog* repeat between *s (48 st)
K 3 rows
*K6, K2tog* repeat between *s (42 st)
K 3 rows
*K5, K2tog* repeat between *s (36 st)
K 3 rows
*K4, K2tog* repeat between *s (30 st)
K 3 rows
*K3, K2tog* repeat between *s (24 st)
K 3 rows
*K2, K2tog* repeat between *s (18 st)
K 3 rows
*K1, K2tog* repeat between *s (12 st)
K 3 rows
*K2tog* repeat between *s (6 st)
K 3 rows

BO using conventional BO (K2, psso), not by breaking yarn and sewing through remaining stitches--this makes a better point at the top of the hat.

Pull yarn tail through point and weave in all loose ends. Voila! Place on your own little "Thing" and enjoy! :cheering:
