fetching

Hi all,

I am thinking about making fetching and I have 2 skeins of Noro Cash Iroha (http://www.eisakunoro.com/html/cash_iroha.htm).

I did a test swatch and I got 28 st in 4 in. on a 4mm needle. I don't have 5's or 4.5's so I will have to buy some (shucky darn a shopping trip) but I don't want to have to buy both right now. Which do you think it will be?

I did do a swatch with 2 strands held together on a 5.5 and it worked out perfectly but I don't want to make them that thick. but at the same time, I am nervous that on a 5mm the knit will be too lose to look right.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Please pardon my higgorance but what is 'fetching' ?- I've never heard of it before. :shrug:

As you're talking about a swatch, I don't think it means something to do with a dog and newspaper but that's the only fetching that springs to mind.

To answer your question, for the last few weeks I've been trying out needle sizes and different weights of wool. Depending on your tension, you would definitely get away with using worsted (Aran) weight wool on 5mm and 5mm.

Right now, I'm knitting myself a cardigan using 5.5 mm needles in an Aran weight and I've just started a hat with two strands of Double Knitting (sports weight) on 4.5 mm.

For Double Knitting weight, 4.5mm is no problenm at all.

I found them very simple and quick to make. My mum had the first pair I made off me and has ordered several more!
