I am looking for an easy baby sweater pattern - does anyone have a favorite? I have never done a sweater and the patterns seem intimidating. I have 2 baby boys I'd like to make somehting for this Christmas. Thanks!

I made one up for my oldest when he was about 2 and the 2nd one wore it too....

CO the number of stitches you need for half the diameter (like if you want it 30" around, figure out how many you need for 15"). Knit every row until it's the length you want. Cast on stitches for the sleeves, knit a few more inches till you get the length from hem to neck. BO the middle stitches, enough width for their head (if the head measures 18" around, cast off about 9"); on the next row, CO the number of stitches you bound off. Knit the same number of rows/inches you did on the back for the upper body, BO the sleeves and knit until the body length matches the back. BO. Sew up the side and sleeve seams.

Very easy and fast if you do it all in garter stitch.

Not sure what type you are looking for, but here's a few that I've seen made by members here.

Seamless Yoked Baby Sweater (http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/babysweyokecard.htm)
Raglan Sleeve Easy Baby Sweater (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/4054/babysweaterfront.htm)
Very Easy Child's Sweater (http://margarethubertoriginals.com/newpage1.htm)

If you don't mind buying patterns I like these.

From the last site that Jan put up, there is this, (http://www.knittingpureandsimple.com/baby_sweater_for_site_2.pdf) (.pdf) pattern which I am currently knitting.

I love the tunic on Knitting Pure and Simple - methinks my son might get one of those! Still not sure what to try, but I'm narrowing it down. Thanks!! :muah:

This (http://www.minidata.co.nz/major/freepatt/patt01.htm) is a very easy sweater, but you'll probably want to use a size 8 needle instead of a 10 1/2.
