I saw this in the October 2006 issue of "Real Simple" magazine, and I thought it was cool...after all, it is made from alpaca, so it has to be awesome, right??? How hard would something like this be to knit? Would I need a pattern necessarily, or just a basic knowledge of how to knit sleeves and such? Where might I find a pattern for knitting something like this? And also, what might comparable alpaca yarn for this project run?

Update--I think I found a pattern for this...does this (http://www.rebecca-online.de/cont_en/anleitungen/heft_12_anl_17.pdf) pattern seem to be the same garment?

That pattern seems extremely similar to that garment pictured. I would say it would be intermediate/beginner. You really only need to know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease, and seam. and I would say GO FOR IT! They are similar enough, and easy enough!

I liked the fact that the garment in the magazine was a versatile piece, but I really can't justify $195. I just have to figure out how to adjust that pattern to fit a larger bust. The largest size is 38" and I'm 44". :??

urgh missed that! I'm a 46 *cough* ok so I'm closer to a 48 /sigh.

Am guessing its a matter of working out the gauge / SPI etc
