View Full Version : FO-Aran Pillow

Here's the Aran pillow I made for my mom. I also made the matching afghan in Canadian Living (http://www.canadianliving.com/CanadianLiving/client/en/Crafts/DetailNews.asp?idNews=2375&idSM=307) to go with it. The afghan strips are all knit but I still need to block and seam them (eep! I'm scared).

The pillow seemed a much more manageable chunk to test out my first ever seaming. Mattress stitch is pretty awesome!

This is also the first time I've ever blocked something and been pleased with a noticeable improvement. Oh yes! And I used Paton's Classic Wool Merino in Winter White.

Sorry for the picture quality, my camera can't do detail very well. :-(
How do you all take your detail pics? My flash always throws a glare, as you can see. Any picture taking tips?

What an awesome way to practice new stitches - I love the pillow!

As for pictures - try to not use the flash. I always get a lot more detail if I use natural light. Hang out in front of the window and play with the settings on your camera. Also, play around to see just how up-close you can give you the most detail.
