If you have a Hobby Lobby around check there, Red Heart has one I cannot remember the name, but you'd prolly want to use size 2 or 3 needles with it, I find it at my local Hobby Lobby with the crochet thread, I don't have any allergies so I haven't tired it, but you could check it out. Not sure if you meant larger or smaller than a size 5 needle

I asked the question what to use for sock as well, because I'm also allergic. This is the topic: http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14668&highlight=wool+allergic
Eventualy I went with acrylic, but the sock I knitted had a hole really soon (I only wore it 10 times)
What you can also do is use 2 strands of thin yarn at the time, so if you find great fingering weight yarn, but you think it's to thin, just use 2 strands and it'll become thicker and you can use thicker needles.
