I'm in the Lansdowne-ish area :-x I hate it. I grew up in the Brooklyn area, which isn't much better, but at least it's got more character to it.

Arbutus, eh? I might know 'em. It's a small place. As for cherry hill, huh. I live right by the patapsco light rail station, on the other side of cherry hill. So we get a lot of punks from there who vandalize, rob, burglarize, every few months or so rape, and a year ago kill in our neighborhood :-x

Hav e you been to the yarn store in Fells Point? The woman who owns it, Lorraine, is really funny.

Grew up in PG County and lived in White Marsh for 7 years. I still work in Owings Mills but I moved up to PA so I could afford a house and get better schools for my kids. I LOVE it up here. :)

I'm having trouble finding a yarn store besides the typical JoAnn's or Michael's. I just started knitting about 6 months ago. I've crocheted for years but like knitting better so far.

Where do you live in PA? My parents and brother just moved to Stewartstown a couple of years ago. The development they built a house in they all call "Little Maryland"! I live in Elkridge about 10 mintues from the airport, 10 minutes from Arundel Mills Malls.

I used to work in Owings Mills and grew up in Randallstown. Where do you work? My brother works at TRowe in Owings Mills.

Hi to everyone!
I've just registered, after reading this forum for MONTHS. I'm originally from Baltimore City, and have now lived in Owings Mills for 12 years. I taught myself to knit from library books about 14 years ago. And I am currently making the Icarus shawl (not for myself).

Woolstock in Glyndon, MD isn't too far from the border. They have a nice selection (although a bit cluttered due to an impending show) and I liked the laid-back atmosphere.
They were super nice, too.

The Mannings (http://www.the-mannings.com/) is in East Berlin, PA. It's about a half hour west of York. They have a great supply of yarn.

Born, raised, in Silver Spring. Worked in Montgomery County and Maryland State governments. Retired to St. Mary's County. Found 2! knitting groups down here, really nice folks.

Love knitting with friends! And crocheting. And tatting. And needlepointing. And punch-needle rug making. And-and-and!

Hey guys. I just joined the forum, and I recently taught myself to knit. I have the basics, but there are a few technicalities that I could use some help on. Tension is one of them.

If anyone is in the Parkville/Carney/or White Marsh area, I would love to meet up with you!

I live in Mt. Washington. 21209. There a nice knit shop Lovely Yarns in Hamden that has a Saturday knit and b**ch, (rhythms with knit)
and a place in Catonsville on Mellor Avenue off of Frederick Road that has great yarns and good classes.
Good luck with the hobby.

Helloooo, I'm in Dundalk!

KnittingNovice, do you know about the knitting group that meets at the Panera in Nottingham (by the Target and Dicks)? They have a ravelry group--White Marsh Knitting Gals, I believe. I went to college with one of the members, and I've only been able to make it to knit night (tuesday) twice... but they seem nice!

ETA:
Pjss, I might have to check out the shoop in Hamden... the Fells shop is close to me, but I haven't been there since I moved back to the area ( a year ago) because parking is such a PITA!

I love Maryland! I lived in that area for a year. Would love to go back there to live some day. I know the Timmonium/Towson area well. Made a few excusions into Balmer. We lived right on the Mason Dixon line near Maryland Line. We made frequent shopping trips to Towson, Shrewsbury, and Stewartstown. If you haven't gone there already, visit the old mill outside of Stewartstown the next time you see your folks. I never went to that yarn store, but I know the little town.
