Decreasing

I have just begun a camisole for my daughter from the Leisure Arts leaflet "Knits for All Seasons," and it is shaped at the side seams. The stitch guide for decreasing is:

K2. Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and hold at back of work. K1, then Sl1. K1. psso from cable needle.

I have attempted this three times and just can't figure out where (or what!) I am to psso... I know the k1, s1, psso decrease and have done that for dog's years. Does anyone know what the dickens they are talking about here? At the end of the row, there is another decrease, but it seems pretty elementary:

Slip next st onto a cable needle and hold at front of work. K2tog, then K1 from cable needle.

Well........

it seems really weird, like they want there to be crossed sts for some reason. Is there a pattern stitch that they're trying to follow?

In any case, if they'd put in a parenthesis or two, it might make more sense...

as in:
K2. Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and hold at back of work. K1 from left needle, then (Sl1, K1, psso from cable needle).

That's my take anyway...don't know if this helps or not... :shrug:

Diane's interpretation makes some sense. Is there a photo you can scan? Maybe that would help...

Diane was exactly right! The instruction would be better written as:

K2. Slip next 2 sts onto a cable needle and hold at back of work. K1, then from cable needle Sl1. K1. psso.
