Eistein Coat-Sally Melville buttonholes vs attatched i-cord

I'm making the Einstein Coat and want to do an attatched I-cord instead of button holes. It looks like the button holes add 2 more ridges so how many stiches do I pick up if I'm not doing the button holes. Help! Cindy

I went to my local yarn shop this afternoon and they said that it wouldn't matter because the pattern is oversized and bulky fitting. So I'm taking their word for it. Cindy
