I'm getting bored knitting socks with all stockinette or k2,p2 and I would like to branch out to something a little more, er, entertaining. Do you know of stitch patterns that would look good with self-patterning yarn?

Thank you! :)

Depends if it's variegated with short color changes, or self-striping with long color changes. For the long color changes, Knitty's Clapotis or Danica look terrific (or any entrelac scarf, wrap or blanket). My So Called Scarf looks good with either type of yarn.

Sorry I wasn't more specific. It's for yarns that stripe with faux fair-isle stripes, like many Opal yarns (I've only seen sock yarns made that way). I was planning on making socks, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Salut Ariane! ;)

I'm making the Jaywalker pattern these days and I really like it: http://magknits.com/Sept05/patterns/jaywalker.htm I don't know if it would work as well with faux fair-isle though.

You could also look at this one: http://www.poshyarn.co.uk/patterns.html and also this: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer03/PATTbroadripple.html

I tried them all and was happy with the results! :cheering: I'm sure there are other patterns on knitty.com as well.

Thanks Iza! I think I'm going to try Jaywalkers, too. Thanks for the input!
