I just bought 3 balls of foliage for 50% off at my LYS. I couldn't stop fondling it (and think i had my first yarngasm :woot: )

Anyway, I was thinking about making a scarf with it, but wanted to pick your brains about stitch patterns that would look good. I've never used a yarn that's this bulky before and don't know where to start! (I think they refer to it as a wooly roving on the berrocco website)

What kinds of stitches would show off nicely? The color is a varigated green if that helps :)

:muah: thanks in advance!

LOL! Reminds me of the scene in When Harry Met Sally, "I'll have what she's having." I'll have to check out this yarn next time I go to my LYS.

Anyway, other members with more experience might think otherwise, but I think when you have a really gorgeous yarn, let it be the star by keeping the stitch simple.

I'm glad you posted this because I didn't realize Berroco had so many free patterns. Most every one I looked at for Foliage was either stockinette, rib, or garter. If you want to really show it off, though, check out the Vinnie scarf pattern: http://www.berroco.com/238/238_vinnie_pv.html

I hope you post a photo when it's finished!
Happy knitting!

thanks for the suggestion. I ended up trying a swatch of My So Called Scarf (http://www.sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com/archives/000079.html) and love it. Once I figure out how to post a picture on the board, I will show you what it looks like so far. :whoosh:

Ooooh, that looks good!

I made a scarf for myself in the Cinammon colorway. It was just an drop stitch scarf, kind of like this: http://mnsfibers.livejournal.com/49044.html

I alternated 5 rows of garter stitch with one row drop stitch. Super easy (but not super warm)!

 Thanks for posting the yarn close up and the link. That's a beautiful pattern. Now I really have to get some of that yarn. Maybe it will go on sale at the LYS.

I  foliage- here's the capelet I made in it. I used the blue colorway.
I like the stockinette side best.
