FO: Dashing from Knitty.com Spring 07

I've seen so many people knit Fetching that I was a bit jealous that there wasn't an equally cool fingerless glove for guys. With the Spring 07 Knitty there was the guy-friendly Dashing. I finished knitting Dashing a few days ago. Finally managed to take some pictures with my friend Kevin.

Because I love mmmMalabrigo SO much I decided to use it for the pattern.
I couldn't get the gauge right so I double stranded it with some light blue alpaca. I also figured the alpaca would lighten the overall color and help the cables stand out.

You can really see the cables in that image. =)
The gloves ended up much longer than the pattern states (I even left a few rows out!) but the fit is pretty decent.
The worst part was picking up stitches for the thumb. Especially going from the top needle to the bottom. I was pulling out crochet hooks and safety pins and extra needles. It was a quick project though... I think I'll knit up another pair.

Those rock. Nothing like basic denim blue colorway to go with a variety of outfits, the cables look well defined. Hope they keep your wrist and hands warm.

I must say, I agree with you on the horrors of the thumb hole (she uses the same one for Fetching.) I planned on making myself another pair of Fetchings, (might go for Dashings now, though) and plan on altering that part of the pattern. Because it makes me go :zombie:

I'm working on Dashing too, my first glove and first cable project. My cables are looking a little bit tight and "puckery" at the crosses. I'm trying to find a cable video to get a better idea of the right tension. Anybody have a link? Or suggestions?

I just finished mine. Know what you mean about the thumb hole. I didn't like the fit at the finger edge, so I ripped out the last 6 rows and reworked them with decreases in the last few rows. Much better. I've found my Christmas gift project for all my sisters!
