These are my modifications to Julsey_123's capelet tutorial on Craftster...

For my daughter's I only went down 1 size of wool (bulky to worsted) and one size needle (11's to 10's) then followed Julsey's pattern exactly.

For the doll, I used the same Idea as her pattern:
using leftover worsted, and size 6 needles
Cast on 28

do 1 x 1 ribbing for 2 rows (I might do 3 next time)
Raglan increase row:
k2, p2, yo, pm, p1, yo, p4, yo, pm, p1, yo, p8, yo, pm, p1, yo, p4, yo, pm, p1, yo, p3, k2.
knit all stitches

repeat raglan increase row and knitting the reverse until the sleeves are big enough for the doll. (I counted about 38 rows)

Split sleeves: K2, purl to 1st marker, slip the next set of stitches between the markers to scrap yarn, (toss the markers) purl to next marker, slip the next set of stitches between markers to scrap yarn (toss markers), purl to last two stitches, k2
(this is where I ran out of yarn and switched to the contrast color.)

knit all stitches
k2 purl all to last two, k2
knit all
change to 1 x 1 ribbing for 4 rows (I kept the K2 on either end)

bind off

go back to first sleeve, replace stitches from scrap yarn to needle (toss scrap yarn)
work in 1 x 1 ribbing for 4 rows, bind off

repeat for second sleeve

weave in all ends!

I owe all the idea/ pattern mods/ math and tips to Craftster' s wonderful crew.
