What to knit?

I have a beautiful large hank of local alpaca - brown - that I am itching to knit with and cannot decide what. I really have no desire to make a sweater or tank. Thinking maybe a prayer shawl or something open weave.....

Can you felt alpaca?

maybe a soft hat or even just a plain jane (super soft) SCARF~

Alpaca felts, but not as tightly as wool.

I made a hat for my grandson in the fall out of alpaca from my friend's animal. I tell you, it's gotten softer and softer as time's gone by.

Alpaca is VERY soft, but wool felts better, as Ingrid said.
