I've finished knitting a baby's blanket, bibs, washclothes, socks and hats. I used Plymouth's Dreambaby DK and Bernat's Cotton Tots yarns. I wanted to wash the items before I give them to the expectant mom. Can I use Cheer, Tide, etc. type laundry detergents to wash them? Both labels say the yarn can be machine washed. I also wanted to suggest that the mom use regular laundry detergent wash the items too.

Babies sometimes have sensitive skin so you might consider a baby friendly detergent like Dreft.

For all my knits for babies, I use baby shampoo.

store brand equivalent to Dreft is just as good too- or the no color no scent All. we still use Dreft (or the equivalent) on our kid's clothes and she's almost 5.
