My friend will be undergoing chemotherapy for six months and has lost her hair. Her biggest concern are the chemo caps that were given to her at the hospital. She states that they are so hot and itchy. I was thinking of knitting one for her in cotton. Would anyone have any suggestions for a pattern I could use that will to with Bernat handicrafter cotton. Does this shrink? (US7 needles) ...would anyone have a chemo cap pattern I could use for either of these please? Kind of new to knitting so don't know how to change patterns to different types of yarn/needle sizes.

I'm not sure Handicrafter Cotton is soft enough...It says good for kitchen accessories and baby bibs, neither of which would touch the skin much. Chemo skin can be very tender. I think I'd look into these..
Bernat Cottontots (http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml;$sessionid$2SPA2DQAAEOWEP4SY5KRIHR50 LD3UEPO?CATID=95760&PRODID=87593) - Worsted weight
Lion Brand Cotton-Ease (http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml;$sessionid$2SPA2DQAAEOWEP4SY5KRIHR50 LD3UEPO?CATID=95760&PRODID=182887) - Worsted weight
Paton's Grace (http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml;$sessionid$2SPA2DQAAEOWEP4SY5KRIHR50 LD3UEPO?CATID=95760&PRODID=85784) - DK weight

Any pattern should work as long as the gauge is the same. Here's a few sites with patterns.

Blue sky Alpaca sells a really really soft organic ( http://www.kpixie.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=35_39_44 ) cotton as well as dyed( http://www.kpixie.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=35_39_115 ) cotton.

Its worsted weight, but so worth it. I work a lot with cotton and its by fare the softest I've found.

Hi, This is such a great resource maybe it's worth posting on it's own. There are a lot of designs here and little 'tips' as you look through:
