well, I watch several on Ebay to see how the bids are going and Lonnie bid on one for me without my knowledge....well, I did find out in a day or 2 bc I saw "I" was the high bidder when i had not even bid on it! He's so sweet. Anyway, we were on the phone together when the auction was ending on the one he had bid on and i promise, in the last 2 seconds we were outbid! it's simply gorgeous! made in England, this one is made by "Bex" and I'm pretty positive that it is made of bakelite as the others are.
Not only are these beautiful, but they work so well...great for socknitting, way better than putting your yarn in ziplock bags!
The pictures do neither justice, they are beautiful! So, thanks to Amy, we (horve1 and I) are now collectors of vintage knitting goodies....thanks Amy, you enabler :wink:

Hey rebecca! Glad to see you back.... that is really cool. I love it. I like bakelite too, I have a sweet bracelet I found in a Florida second hand store.
I'm going to keep an eye out for one of these.

Thanks, Vic! I love Bakelite! These are vintage, I know of no place other than Ebay, I've looked in antique stores and have had no luck finding them. Since they are vintage, it's unlikely they will be in yarn shops...but, you would think that the knit powers that be would start to make these again, doesn't it?!
FYI, these are very small, good for socknitting. The one that Amy gave me is larger, but harder to find. I didn't want someone to get one from Ebay and then think them huge! Perfect for socknitting and most especially for collecting!

I've used ziploc bags for years, just snip the corner off, run the yarn thru it and it works like a charm! :cheering:
