Want to Learn To Make Patterns

I'm interested in putting a couple of pattern ideas on paper to share. Do I need anything special or just graph paper? It seems I've seen some knitting graph paper that was different.

Any thoughts, ideas, links? :??

I've knit patterns where the paper had regular squares, though. If you have a picture of the finished product, then you can put it on regular graph paper. I honestly think that the knitter's paper is only necessary if you are drawing a motif.
