Yay Sheldon! Thank you for the upgrade! :muah:

Sheldon's still working on ironing things out. Like that minimum 10 letters to make a post, Vicky. Silly stuff like that. He's workin' hard for us. :inlove:

It's kind of wild, seeing things look different, eh? :zombie: It will take getting used to of course.

Expect more changes over the next several days. Like the lovely new posting interface that just magically appeared for you moments ago (Sheldon the wizard).

....I'm trying to organize the emoticons, presently. Holy moly, we sure do have a lot of them. There's no rhyme or reason currently...hopefully I can tame them into some kind of order. *amy cracks a whip*

My favorite thing about it is the Quick Reply, the great user control panel, and just about everything. It's much better!

Ive used this software before...

You might have to go into your User CP and change the "subscribe to thread" options...cause I noticed that mine was default set to subscribe to ANY thread I posted in.

Oh my goodness!! This is my first quick look since work has been so crazy today!

It's so visually appealing!!!!

Thanks for all of your effort. It's so nice that you keep making improvements rather than satisfying yourself with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude.

I can't wait until I have more time later to explore!!!

05-16-2007, 01:28 PM
I think you have to hit 100 posts to be a senior member! It would be fun to see what us chatter boxes would be called!

I just noticed a little plus and minus sign in the lower left hand corner below avatars - to see who is online or not. Don't pay attention to the fact that I'm always on :shifty:

On another site I visit, post numbers are linked to gemstones. Maybe we could have yarn types... from Red Heart cheapy to .... ??

The first thing I did was bumped up my posts per page under my options. I prefer scrolling to loading pages any day. Thank you for all of your hard work (my hubby set up and maintains our college alumni forum so I understand, just a little bit, the wonderful work you've done):muah:

Ah. I see if I click quote it goes to a different text box and if I click reply it goes to the quick quote box. Thanks for pointing that out..I think I was just clicking the quote and it confused me. Short trip.

Oh my gosh! I love the way the new attachment feature works! You upload a picture and it comes out as a thumbnail that you can click and it shows a larger size! That should help with loading pages!

I'm soooo glad KH is back. I had such a weird feeling in my stomach knowing that you guys weren't just a mous click away. Talking to DQ_ and sig in the chat hlped a lot though :D

Hooray! So what does "senior member" mean, anyway? :teehee: Are we going to get ranks related to post numbers like a number of other forums have? :teehee:

It's a ranking system based upon the number of posts. We're currently using the default settings but we might try to get creative with it. Sadly, I don't qualify as senior member :(

Sheldon! And Amy! WOW what a great upgrade! Is this now PHPbb?

I recognise this style from some other forums. I love the quick reply!

The old forum was PHPBB. This is vBulletin. We've had our eye on vBulletin for a while since it's more robust than PHPBB, not to mention more secure and easier to keep up to date. The template is a fairly new Web 2.0 template. We are trying to support standards compliant coding and this was one of only a few that fit the bill.

Oh my gosh! I love the way the new attachment feature works! You upload a picture and it comes out as a thumbnail that you can click and it shows a larger size! That should help with loading pages!

More web 2.0 magic. It's a AJAX based image enlarger called highslide. When I saw it, I knew KH had to have it. I am currently converting all the old attachments (1.3GB worth!) to this format. Also in the works is a resizer for people who link in images from other web sites. We've had problems in the past with images and attachments breaking the forum template. So hopefully that will be a thing of the past.

Wowie! I was sooo busy at work, I totally forgot about today's goings on!
Just got hooked up with super fast cable internet on Monday, and now this! Life is getting all upgraded!!!
OK, what's the deal on the 10 character minimum? I'm seeing it mentioned but not why. I see it's going to change. No more single character "wth?" type replies eh?
oo, where to roam next...I'm like a kid in a candy store. I tweeked my profile. put my pic in there..woo hoo!
I'm liking the spell check option so when i feel like not bein' an idjit.

Ok, it took me a while to find out how the quick reply works, but I've found out. Everything looks great! Good job.

The advanced works great as well, but most of the times I don't need it.

I love the thread rating and how everything works!

I haven't found the spell check yet, where is it? Like BinkyKat, spell check would be great for me.

OK, what's the deal on the 10 character minimum? I'm seeing it mentioned but not why.

The 10 character restriction has been removed. It took me a while to hunt it down among the gazillion of settings and options that comprise the new board software.

Wondering why some topics are in bold and others aren't. (esp like my blog title looks non-impressive coz it's not in bold. Do you have to hit bold or something!?

This is so neat.

Well, It's taking me a bit to get used to, kinda like when a new scriptwriter takes over writing for the show you love, and does all sorts of new stuff one should never do with your favourite characters, lol... have to admit, I almost got up and ran from my computer a few times in a brain fritz!! But, I'm slowly accepting it. Has anyone else noticed the amount of traffic now. Our best before was 96, but now we regularly have over 100 and the other day we hit 511 - now this freaked me out!! Where did everyone suddenly come from. Or wasn't the old forum reporting who was on properly? Tre Trippy!!

Um, what's up with "Thanked 0 times in 0 posts" Kinda makes you feel useless! I know some of these people have been thanked 1000s of times too! What's up with that?

Kelly
